All practices and home meets will be held at the Meadowlands Pool, *except for the Monday morning practice, which will be held at Wallburg Pool.*
We will not practice on May 26th (Memorial Day) or July 3rd(day prior to Independence Day). It is also possible that practices may be canceled due to inclement weather or even, earlier in the season, cooler weather. Although we will always endeavor to hold practice, the safety of our swimmers and coaches is of the utmost importance.
Evening practices will begin on Monday, May 18th. All morning practices start on June 1st, once Davidson County Schools are out for the summer (date subject to change if there are make-up days that extend the school year beyond the currently-scheduled last day of school). Please note that all evening practices will start at 7pm for the first week and then move to 8pm thereafter.
The times have been set up to be as flexible as possible since summer can be quite busy and we know there are work, vacation, and other commitments. We realize swimmers may not be able to make all the practices, but we encourage swimmers to attend at least 2 practices per week.

Cost, Multi-Swimmer Discounts
The registration fee for the team this year is $130 per swimmer, and there is a $10 discount for each swimmer beyond the first swimmer in each family. Included in the price will be practices with paid coaches, T-Shirt, ribbons, and meet entry fees (including the League Championship Meet). Each swimmer will be responsible for purchasing their own swimsuit and swim cap. Team swimsuits and swim caps are optional but strongly encouraged, and there will be a team store that opens early in the season from which these items may be purchased. Keep in mind that you must be a member of one of the participating pools to be on the swim team. There will be no refunds unless your child does not pass the swim test.

Attend the optional in-person registration event at Meadowlands Pool (Sunday, May 3rd from 1pm – 3pm). At this session, you will also have the opportunity to ask questions of Head Coach Samantha Love and to meet many of our other coaches. We plan to have swimsuits available to try on as well.
Though online/electronic registration is preferred, we can send you a copy of the registration form to print and submit manually. Please email swim4tsunami@gmail.com to request this.
Volunteers
Numerous parent volunteers are required at both home and away meets, as well as at the City Meet. We will need a representative from each family to volunteer at a minimum of 3 swim meets this summer – not having to pay someone to work these positions is part of what helps keep your registration cost as low as possible! Volunteer positions include timers, awarding heat ribbons, stroke and turn judging, ribbons, computer, team parent, clerk of course, parking, and concessions. (If all swimmers in your family are Jumpers, you are not required to volunteer, but we hope you will consider doing so).
Other information
We are once again offering a discount for families with more than one swimmer - see cost information above.
We are again planning to let swimmers know which strokes they will swim at each meet on the day before each meet. We hope this will make your planning for meet days just a little easier.
Coach Sammie and her staff will host weekly Skills Clinics at both Thursday practices. These practices will be a little different than the others in that they will focus on specific skills (flip turns, certain difficult aspects of a certain stroke, starting from blocks, etc).
Team members (except for Jumpers) must be able to swim the length of the pool unassisted. Boys and girls will be entered in separate events in all age groups. The age groups are as follows:
Jumpers: 5 and up
Competitive groups: 8 and under, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14 and 15-18.
All participants must swim within their age group (swimming up is allowed as needed for relays, etc.). Age will be determined as of June 1stof that year.
We welcome any questions you might have. Please email swim4tsunami@gmail.com. As in the past, Kim Love and Ryan Vann will be your primary points of contact and we can be reached at the address above, as well as through other means (Remind, Facebook, etc.).
Dear Swimmers and Parents,
I am very excited to continue as Head Coach again this summer for Tsunami Swim Team. I have been a competitive swimmer since the age of 6 and worked as a swim lesson instructor since the age of 13. The past several years I have been working as an assistant coach and lessons coordinator at High Point Swim Club. As a swimmer who grew up with our team, I have many ideas and plans for this summer. I’d like to continue new training techniques and tools to better our learning experiences. As Head Coach I will be working with all age groups this summer allowing the chance to teach and meet every swimmer on the team. Most importantly though I look forward to creating a memorable and fun summer for all our swimmers.
-Samantha Love
